Custom Solid Stave Snares
Stave snare drums have been the engineer's and studio drummer's best kept secret for the last 20 years. In fact even if you have never played a stave snare yourself, chances are that you have heard dozens on different recordings from some of your favorite bands. The tone, attack, focus and clarity produced by the solid stave shell is the ideal sound that drummers and studio engineers are always looking for.
Wood Choices
We have a vast array of woods that you can choose from to build your snare, and each wood sounds as unique as it looks. If it is out there, we can build you a snare from it. When selecting your wood type the general rule of thumb is that harder woods have more attack and a naturally higher pitch, and softer woods are warmer sounding with a naturally lower pitch. Here are some of our more commonly used woods divided into classes based on price.
Class 1 Woods: Black Walnut, African Mahogany, Hard Maple, Ash, Red Oak, Poplar, Pecan, Birch, Black Cherry
Class 2 Woods: Bubinga, Padauk, Jatoba, Birdseye Maple, Zebrawood, Purpleheart, Sapele, Tigerwood, Shedua, Canarywood
Class 3 Woods: Wenge, Honduran Rosewood, Bacote
